Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's first title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
